DAVE FLETT’S usual excellent match report (The Press, January 18) probably sums up the feelings of many, if not all, of the York City faithful.

What a sad and sorry season this is turning into. Before Saturday’s kick off the consensus between the group of nine that I stand with was “we need three points today, one isn’t enough”.

At no stage did we look like achieving this. Once again we’ve let a seemingly ordinary team appear to be of very high quality, so what does that say about us?

In 43 years of supporting City, I’ve never known an instance of a new recruit suggesting that “it’s an unhappy camp. As Dave suggests, this lot shouldn’t be happy and it would be disturbing if they are.

The sign above the gate at Bootham Crescent tells us to “keep the faith”. The fans have done so admirably this season, but the team need to give far more for this faith to continue, and soon please.
