PLYMOUTH Argyle star striker Reuben Reid will still be sidelined for the table-toppers' trip to York City tomorrow.

Reid, who netted 20 goals last season for the Pilgrims, had also hit the target six times this term before picking up a hip injury that has seen him miss the last five matches.

In his absence, former Ross County attacker Jake Jervis is set to carry on as the team's lone central striker in manager Derek Adams' preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

Jervis ended a seven-game personal barren spell when he bagged a brace during Tuesday night's 5-3 Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Millwall and will get the nod up front over ex-Minsterman Ryan Brunt, who has only managed two goals in 21 outings during the current campaign.

Scotsman Adams will also be without on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder Hiram Boateng with the leg injury that has kept him out for the last two fixtures.

Oscar Threlkeld is expected to continue deputising having made his first start against Millwall following a September loan move from Bolton.

Following Tuesday's defeat, Plymouth have now lost their last two games - both at home - with Carlisle pulling off a surprise 2-0 FA Cup shock at the weekend.

The Millwall defeat was certainly uncharacteristic for a side that has only conceded 11 league goals this term - a tally only bettered by Championship leaders Hull City in the Football League.

Adams' men also remain five points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two having won five of their last six matches with a 1-0 midweek defeat at Oxford on October 20 the only blemish during that sequence.

In attack, meanwhile, Plymouth only boast the division's seventh-best, goals-for column and, should the Devon club lose tomorrow, it will be the first time they have suffered three consecutive defeats since April 2014.

Plymouth (probable): McCormick, Mellor, Nelson, Hartley, Sawyer, Threlkeld, McHugh, Tanner, Carey, Wylde, Jervis.
