OUT-OF-FAVOUR York City winger Anthony Straker has flown out to Grenada for his country's World Cup qualifying tie against Haiti.

The Spices Boys will play host to Haiti on Friday and then travel away for the deciding leg on Tuesday as they bid to reach the CONCACAF region's fourth qualifying round.

Straker has not featured in the last three City squads, having been given his first run-out for the club in eight months when he was used as a substitute during this season's 3-0 opening-day defeat at Wycombe.

The 26-year-old attacker also featured heavily in pre-season but last started a competitive Minstermen game a year ago and fell out of favour under Bootham Crescent chief Russ Wilcox prior to spending the final four months of the 2014/15 season at Scottish Premier League outfit Motherwell.

He will now be on international duty as his club travel to Wales for their Sky Bet League Two fixture in Newport on Saturday.

Ex-England under-18 international Straker has won eight caps for Grenada, who are ranked 160th in the FIFA rankings and whose most notable achievement is finishing Caribbean Cup runners-up twice in 1989 and 2008.

The island country, with a population of 109,000, also reached the Gold Cup finals in 2009 and 2011, with Straker featuring in the latter competition, but failed to win any of their six matches in the tournaments.
