KEITH Lowe is hoping York City’s supporters will be in full voice for tonight’s Capital One Cup clash against Bradford – but not in their criticism of the team.

The Minstermen were booed off the pitch by a section of City’s away following at the end of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Wycombe.

Chants of “You’re Getting Sacked in the Morning” were also directed at manager Russ Wilcox after the third goal went in at Adams Park.

On that abuse, The Press’ two-time Player of the Year said: “It’s never nice to hear booing. Personally, I give my all for the team for 90 minutes and, if that’s not good enough and you fall short, it’s hard to take.

“It’s never nice to get your nose rubbed in it either, but we all know York fans can out-sing opposition supporters ten-to-one and this is a great game to bounce back in.”

Lowe made a seventh-minute mistake that gifted Wycombe the lead at the weekend when his attempt to flick the ball back to goalkeeper Scott Flinders was intercepted by home defender Anthony Stewart.

It was a rare blunder by the 29-year-old centre back and he has vowed to avoid a repeat performance, adding: “I thought I was the last man in the box but that wasn’t the case.

“It was the first game of the season so it came at a bad time for me but I have to take it on the chin, learn from it and make sure I don’t do it again. You can’t dwell on what’s happened and I will be doing everything I can now to help the team get a win against Bradford.”
