YORK City are moving nearer to landing two close-season targets.

The Minstermen's summer transfer market activity has so far been limited to the signing of Crewe striker Vadaine Oliver but Russ Wilcox is hopeful that he can make a couple of further additions this week.

The Bootham Crescent boss said: "We are close to a couple of signings – but you never know until they've put pen to paper."

Wilcox added, meanwhile, that he is unlikely to allow transfer-listed quartet Femi Ilesanmi, Marvin McCoy, Lindon Meikle and Jason Mooney to go out on trial in pre-season if they have not moved on to new clubs by then.

"That's not really come into my thoughts," he explained.

"They've been made available but, if nothing comes up, they can come back into the squad and work hard to try and get back into the team here."

Elsewhere, former City striker Chris Beardsley has joined Sky Bet League Two rivals Mansfield following his release by Stevenage.

And Morecambe have snapped up Peter Murphy, Aaron Wildig and Adam Dugdale from Wycombe, Shrewsbury and Tranmere respectively.
