YORKSHIRE One survival is the potential prize for the winners of tomorrow’s clash between Selby RUFC and Malton & Norton.
Hosts Selby are currently six points clear of the relegation zone with three games remaining, while Malt are four points clear with five games to go.
The Ryedale side surrendered their five-game winning streak against Heath last weekend and chairman Bill Laidler is billing the trip to Selby as a “four-pointer”.
He said: “Hopefully last weekend was just a blip in the drive for safety.
“We now have two games in successive weeks against Selby away and at home to Skipton.
Both could be described as four-pointers.”
The Swans, meanwhile, are pleading with their supporters to turn out in force for their penultimate Sandhill Lane fixture.
A spokesman said: “We are still not mathematically safe from relegation. All supporters are urged to visit Sandhill Lane and cheer the boys to victory.”
Russ Dovey returns at scrum-half for Selby in place of stand-in Andy Bennett, while the pack is also reshuffled after the 19-12 defeat at Keighley.
York will be aiming to stay within striking distance of third-placed Castleford when they host Scarborough at Clifton Park.
A 9-6 win at Bridlington last weekend moved in-form York up to fourth with four games remaining.
Forward Andy Kay is still out injured, but York are able to field an unchanged backline.
Pocklington travel to Goole without six injured players – a legacy of last weekend’s bruising 16-3 defeat by Doncaster Phoenix.
However, experienced midfield trio Andy Rowlinson, Henry Mitchell and Ben Rees will return against the Yorkshire Two relegation battlers.
Pock also add teenage duo Billy Higgins, who plays in the three-quarters, and Danny Mudd, a hooker, to the squad due to their good form with the Panthers.
On Sunday, a Pocklington XV will host Midlands touring team Essington at 2pm.
Yorkshire Four leaders York Railway Institute travel to Hemsworth looking to protect their three-point lead over Sheffield Medicals and Rotherham Phoenix.
