POCKLINGTON RUFC suffered another heavy defeat to Billingham in North Premier as they were beaten 53-10 at home.

In a similar fashion to their previous meeting back in December, which ended 50-10, Pocklington had plenty of early pressure but were swamped by their slick visitors.

Billingham have a quality line-up, half of which play county rugby for Durham, but Pock's hard season looked to have taken its toll in the latter stages as they gave the visitors too much room and paid the price.

The first quarter of an hour was very different, however, and centred more on Pocklington's missed opportunities.

Pock twice got to within a yard of the whitewash only to concede a penalty and also missed a straightforward kick at goal before the clinical Billingham went ahead with their first real attack.

Christian Pollock got a penalty back for Pocklington after his pack had driven upfield but Billingham crossed again before a Pock attack broke down for Billingham again to take play to the other end and touch down.

The hosts had enjoyed more territory and pressure than the visitors and were still in the game, but quick tries either side of the break took it away from them.

Lock Archie Fothergill and teenager Sam Pattison, playing well on his senior debut, helped Pock regroup and the next attack saw Billingham receive a yellow card for killing the ball.

As Billingham continued to infringe, Jack Holbrough took a quick tap and plunged over for Pollock to convert from the touchline.

Pocklington ran out of steam in the final quarter, however, and Billingham needed no second invitation to show their pace and power to cross four more times.
