YORK RI RUFC at least gained a losing point at the death following a match which could have gone either way against high-flyers Mosborough.

The 20-14 result, after a cracking encounter, left the New Lane outfit sixth in Yorkshire Four (south east), with the visitors one of three sides to have a 100 per cent record after three league games.

RI took the lead with a Chris Jones penalty, only to see the visitors score a converted try on the stroke of half-time.

RI started to get into the game with man-of-the-match Brendon Aherne scoring in the corner to earn an 8-7 advantage, but the home side ceded a couple of penalties to one for Mosborough to lead 13-11.

The York side were very much in the game but then Mosborough's big number eight crashed over under the posts, with the extras making it 20-11 with time running out.

RI were awarded a penalty on the last play of the game and captain Frazer Land held his nerve to salvage the losing point.
