TWO 100 per cent records go on the line tomorrow as York RUFC meet Scarborough RUFC in Yorkshire One – with the Clifton Parkers’ promotion credentials under examination.

The sides are level at the top of the league on 15 points from a possible 15, having secured a bonus point in each victory. York have the edge, however, thanks to their enormous points difference advantage, having scored an impressive 168 over the course of their outings.

York’s club rugby manager Ian Thomson said that York’s great start “is not perhaps a surprise” given that they kept hold of their squad over the off-season, while also strengthening the side through recent acquisitions.

He also said that promotion is definitely a target for the club, with their home form – which currently stands at 18 consecutive wins – likely to be key.

Thomson said: “At the start of the season, the club targeted five straight wins.

“We are unbeaten in 18 games at ‘fortress Clifton Park’, and that’s the way we want to keep it.”

Scarborough have been no slouches either with regards to their scoring exploits, but their 43-7 victory over Selby last Saturday looks modest compared to York’s crushing 76-14 defeat of Wheatley Hills last time out.

Thomson highlighted this game as a 10-pointer, given Scarborough’s strong start to the season, but said that there was confidence in the York ranks due to their strong home record.

There will be only one change to the hosts' line-up after last Saturday’s win, with Joe Maud coming onto the bench.

Also in action on Saturday are Scarborough’s opponents from last week, Selby, who travel to Bradford Salem.

Selby have endured less favourable fortunes than their Division One peers, opening the season with three straight losses and finding themselves one place off the bottom. Only one of these games has been at home, however – a narrow loss to Keighley, in which they surrendered a first-half lead.

In the North Premier, Pocklington also gave up a 22-3 half-time lead away at Birkenhead Park last Saturday to draw 22-22 in the newly-promoted showdown.

The Feathers Field side welcome Kendal, who sit two positions above 12th-placed Pocklington, and will be looking to claim their first win of the season after the disappointing draw and two losses.

Malton & Norton visit West Leeds, who were promoted from Yorkshire One last season, in North One East on the back of a 28-22 victory away at Huddersfield YMCA. Malt have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, winning two and losing only their opening fixture, away at Northern.

Yorkshire Four South East’s York RI travel to their North West counterparts Halifax in a cup clash. Both sides have won one and lost one so far this season, but while Halifax sit in second spot, RI currently occupy fifth, having gone down 47-7 at Ossett last weekend.
