POCKLINGTON will be strengthened by the additions of Karl Durkin and George Wagstaff to the ranks for this afternoon's trip to Birkenhead Park.

Back on the M62 again, Pock will travel to their Merseyside hosts in a battle between a pair of promoted sides who have lost their opening two games.

Park are traditionally one of the north's top clubs, but they regained their North Premier status after winning through the North 1 West play-offs at the end of last season.

Though still understrength, Pocklington are gradually getting up to speed and the pack will be bolstered by the return of dual-code forward Durkin, who started out with Pocklington but also plays with Heworth in the summer.

Haxby-based back row Wagstaff, meanwhile, is in line for his senior debut, having previously played National League rugby with Sheffield.

Tomorrow will also see Pocklington Colts entertain Old Rishworthians in the Yorkshire Cup, kick-off 1pm.

In North 1 East, Malton & Norton travel to third-bottom Huddersfield YMCA, who have lost both of their opening two fixtures and conceded more points (76) than any other team in the division.

Malton will be eyeing a first victory on the road, having lost at Northern on the opening day of the campaign.

Top-of-the-table York will be hoping to extend their 100 per cent start to the season in Yorkshire 1 with a home game against Wheatley Hills, who have won one and lost one after two contests.

The Clifton Park outfit have been free-scoring so far, with a return of 92 points already 27 more than the next best record in the division.

That belongs to Scarborough, who have also won their first two fixtures and sit in second ahead of their home meeting with Selby.

The latter are yet to avoid defeat this term and only lie above Middlesbrough and North Ribblesdale in the early standings.

In division four (south-east), York RI travel to Ossett after both clubs kicked off their campaigns with victories last weekend.
