AFTER opening their North Premier League campaign with a big defeat at Wirral, Pocklington face another tough challenge when they entertain Hull at home tomorrow (3pm).

Hull are led by their director of rugby – former Welsh international Gary Pearce – who knows Percy Road well from his decade as Pocklington's player coach in the 1990s.

But Pock are determined to improve and adapt to their new level despite being currently under strength due to a handful of long term injuries and a couple more away on holiday. The injury list lengthened at Wirral.

A bright spot for Pocklington at Wirral was the performance off the bench of last year's Pocklington School captain, Toby Stephenson, son of former Pocklington RUFC skipper, Tim.

He is in the frame to make a first start against Hull, although Ben Thoy hopes to be fit to face his former club. Utility back Dan Elliot and evergreen prop John-Paul Kelly are both available.

Before the game Pocklington will receive their strip from new main sponsors, Catfoss Finance.

The Panthers open their 2017-18 campaign tomorrow when they travel to Wakefield to meet Sandal in the Yorkshire Merit Championship South.

Elsewhere, Malton & Norton host West Hartlepool in North One East aiming to bounce back from their opening day 41-12 defeat to Northern.

In Yorkshire One, York host North Ribblesdale while Selby are also on home turf – with Keighley the visitors.
