Bonus win for York RI at Hornsea

YORK Railway Institute piled on the agony for bottom-of-the-table Hornsea with a 47-5 victory in Yorkshire Four.

Ten points adrift of the other clubs, Hornsea had lost 17 games out of 18 prior to the visit of sixth placed RI.

However, they played with the passion of side that was still very much alive on Saturday and were still on level terms after 15 minutes.

But once man of the match Martyn Ward crashed over the line and Frazer Land converted there was only going to be one winner.

The agile Francky Rossi sprinted past the opposition over a 50 metre chase to score under the posts and again Land converted.

Swift handling saw Ward score his second try before Land converted for a third time.

Rossi added another try but the ‘procession’ was briefly interrupted when a Hornsea winger scored an excellent try in the corner.

Ali Jordan and Tim Lewis added further tries for RI and Land scored another conversion to take the game to 47-5 which also secured the bonus point.

York RI play their final game on April 22 away at third placed Rotherham Phoenix.
