YORK RUFC coach Lee Denham will tell his players to focus on five points tomorrow as the battle for play-off qualification goes to the wire in Yorkshire One.

Denham knows bonus point wins could make all the difference in the final two games of the season as York look to snatch second spot away from rivals West Leeds.

Having closed the gap to just a single point last weekend, York's remaining games are at home to Old Brodleians, tomorrow, and then away at Heath.

West Leeds, meanwhile, play host to Keighley tomorrow before visiting struggling North Ribblesdale on the final day of the season.

"I was very, very happy when I saw that West Leeds had lost (at Beverley) last weekend but also gutted that they had got the bonus point," he said.

"If they win both their games but don't pick up bonus points, we will finish above them if we win and DO get bonus points. So we have got to make sure we get those five points.

"It won't be easy this weekend because Old Brods are a good side," he added. "But we have been the most consistent bonus point scorers this season, with the exception of Beverley, and we are at home and we don't want to finish there with a defeat."

Denham plans to recall Eric Hall in the second row and switch Darren Rutherford back to loose head prop.

"Old Brods have a really big pack so we need to try and match them in that department," he explained. "Eric has massive stopping power and a big tackle so we are going to utilise his big hits around the pitch."

Fullback George Davies will be unavailable this weekend while second rower Marc Benson needs another week to recover from a knee injury.

Selby have a 'must win' game against Heath in their battle against relegation.

Anything less than a victory will leave Selby, who are next-to-bottom of the table, facing a mountain to climb when they visit fourth placed Scarborough in the final game of the season on April 22.

Pocklington will celebrate promotion to National League Three North tomorrow when they entertain Huddersfield YMCA at Percy Road.

Victory over second placed West Hartlepool last weekend gave Pocklington a ten point lead at the top of North One East.

They now have only two more games to play, against Huddersfield tomorrow, and Malton & Norton (away) in two weeks' time.

Pocklington will be hoping that three-quarter Joe Holbrough returns unscathed from a trip to Amsterdam to be in contention for selection.

The game is being sponsored by The Diogenes, an eclectic group of former players and supporters who meet up periodically for social reunions.

Malton & Norton visit Morpeth safe in the knowledge that they have avoided the drop from North One East.

Last week's 34-21 victory over fourth-placed Alnwick lifted the club 16 points clear of the relegation zone with two games left to play.

Club spokesman Bill Laidler said: "They can go into those games free from any worries of relegation and enjoy what is left of the season."

Morpeth are just one point worse off in the table and also safe.

York Railway Institute will be aiming to pile on the agony at Hornsea who are bottom of the Yorkshire Four table with only four points after suffering 17 defeats from 18 games this season.
