YORK RI Ladies continued their dominance in Women’s National Championship North 2 East with a seven-try victory over Scarborough Valkyries Ladies.

It was raining heavily, bitterly cold, and muddy – which made conditions difficult for both sides to overcome.

The first half was a mixture of knock-ons and slow play; RI retaining most of the possession and camped in Scarborough’s half.

RI went through the phases and full back Rachel Demoraes rewarded their efforts with a blistering run through to score under the posts. Kirsty Parr converted.

RI used the width of the pitch to their advantage. From the back of a scrum, they shipped the ball out wide where captain Little stormed down the wing – only stopped by a high tackle – yet she still managed to off load for Vicki Woodgate to score in the corner.

Demoraes made another great run down the wing but the Scarborough defence stopped her in her tracks. The recycled ball was shipped out to the backs and winger Jules Atley fended off three defenders only to be stopped short of the line.

Fiona Parr took the offload and went over for the try.

The visitors started to concede more penalties. Atley was dump tackled by Scarborough’s winger who was yellow carded. Parr kicked for the line out close to the try line. The forwards secured the ball and mauled it closer to the line. Parr peeled off the back and scored in the corner.

From the next kick off, RI secured the ball and again shipped it out wide for Little to score under the post. Gemma Webster converted.

Demoraes made another great run and scored her second try. Centre Lizzie Prance rounded off the day with a try for RI to walk away 39-0 winners.

RI remain unbeaten at the top of the table with two games to play.
