YORK RI continued their campaign in North East Two, scoring 11 tries in a fine 71-0 victory over Acklam.

Within minutes of the kick-off, RI shipped the ball out wide to winger Lucy Peet whose score was converted by Kirsty Parr.

It wasn't long before RI passed the ball out wide again and Peet went over for her second try, although the conversion slipped under the post this time.

Strong carries by second row Nicola Sipika and No. 8 Fiona Parr gave RI great territorial advantage. This time, centre Vicki Woodgate did not need to make the extra pass to the wing and went under the posts herself, converted by Kirsty Parr.

After two well recycled rucks, hooker Kat Reed went over for her first try for RI, converted from the touchline by Kirsty Parr.

The rest of the half was much of the same. With no attack from Acklam, full back Rachel Demoraes slotted herself in the back line and scored two outstanding individual tries, both converted by Kirsty Parr.

Captain Shannon Little finished the first half with two tries of her own, one successfully converted.

Into the second period, Demoraes was denied on the line by the referee but quick thinking from Kirsty Parr meant she went over the line – but was unable to convert.

This seemed to settle RI again and even when Acklam had some possession, their strong defence turned possession over.

Acklam gave away a penalty at the ruck and Kirsty Parr took the penalty quickly, powering through four tackles and scoring, this time converting her own try.

The final try was scored by Peet, bagging herself a hat trick, with Kirsty Parr converting.

The game was played in RI's new shirts thanks to sponsors Howdens and local pub The Volunteer Arms.

RI next play Morpeth at home and will hope to continue their unbeaten streak in the league and maintain their spot at the top of the table.
