YORK Railway Institute recorded a fourth league victory of the season against Stanley Rodillians in Yorkshire Four.

On a perfect day for rugby, RI came up against a spirited Rodillians side who tackled like demons.

It took the skills of Chris Jones to break the deadlock after out-stripping the home defence with a jinking run. Baptiste Brui then converted.

Both sides exchanged penalties with Brui scoring for RI to give his side a 10-3 advantage at halftime.

After the break, RI turned down the opportunity to kick at goal from a penalty and opted instead for the line out.

The ball was won and spun out to ‘man of the match’ Matt Hodson who cut through the defence to score a great try goaled by Brui.

Rodillians continued to tackle well but RI forwards wrapped up the game when driving towards the home line for Jones to make the touchdown. Brui added the extras for a 24-3 victory.

The result avenged RI’s narrow home defeat by Stanley earlier in the season.

They remain in seventh spot in the table - 12 points above Stanley who are ninth - and 34 clear of bottom of the table Bramley Phoenix.
