NESTLE Rowntree travelled across town for a derby match against York 3rds.
The two teams have played some epic games in recent years and this was no exception. Straight from the kick off, Trees got stuck in and created half chances but defences at both ends were holding firm.
A mistake proved costly for Trees in the 12th minute and York winger Billy Cakaunitabua was on hand to score with Dan Russell converting.
Both sides played open rugby and the tackling was ferocious.
There were no further scores until ten minutes after the interval when Jack Daniels converted a penalty.
With time running out, centre Alex Morrell went over out wide to give Trees an 8-7 lead but, with the referee waiting to blow his whistle, they lost possession from the kick off and Cakaunitabua went over with Russell converting to give York a 14-8 win.
