Pocklington 26 Dinnington 14

POCKLINGTON returned to winning ways with a strong team performance in difficult, windy conditions.

Playing against the wind in the first half, the home side's forwards were too strong for the South Yorkshire visitors, dominating the set piece and using the driving maul to good effect.

Pocklington took the lead on the half-hour when a driving maul from a lineout saw flanker Jack Holbrough power over for a try which Nathan Saltmer converted.

Close to half-time, centre Josh Britton extended the lead, touching down his own kick ahead from open play.

Dinnington seized the initiative though in the dying moments of the first half, scoring two tries in quick succession, both of which were converted, giving them a two-point advantage at the break.

Pocklington made the most of the elements in the second half, taking a thoroughly-deserved bonus point win.

Quick hands moved the ball from left to right, allowing replacement wing Alex Smith to dot down in the corner and, ten minutes from time, left wing Charlie Wilson stayed alert to chase down his own kick ahead, touching down just inside the dead ball line. Saltmer converted both tries.
