MALTON'S Rachel Lund scored with her first touch as she made her England Women's debut in a convincing 39-13 win over the USA in Calgary Rugby Park.
The Worcester full-back scored the last of seven tries as the Red Rose opened up their Rugby Super Series Campaign.
Lund, who began her career at Malton & Norton RUFC and is a former England Under-20s captain, arrived on the pitch in the 52nd minute and benefited, barely 180 seconds later, from a well-worked England line-out.
The ball was moved through the midfield and out to the left wing, where Lund ran in with ease to score. England's next game is against New Zealand tomorrow (kick-off 11pm British time).
Head coach Simon Middleton said: "This was a solid start with a performance that had lots of positives as well as lots still to come.
“It was also great to get our two new caps, Lark Davies and Rachel Lund, on the field and what a dream start with Rachel scoring with her first touch of the ball."
