HIGH-FLYING York RUFC Under-19 Colts are the North and East Conference League champions.

The Clifton Park teenagers now go on to face Doncaster, who won the South West Conference League, in a play-off to decide the overall county conference title.

York have lost only two of their fixtures, to Scunthorpe and Yarnbury, with their heaviest defeat being by only three points, while their biggest victory came by a margin of 80 points.

A spokesman said: “It has been a fantastic season for the whole colts squad. Training with and being assisted by many of the junior colts gave the squad strength in depth, enabling them to compete at every position throughout the team.

“Head coach John Hardy has been delighted with the structure of the whole colts squad, which has coupled development with competition success and built a platform for future colts teams while securing talent for the future of York’s senior rugby.

“Some of the senior colts are already involved with the full senior squads and it is hoped this success will encourage more to go into senior rugby, making the future bright for York.”
