POCKLINGTON RUFC recorded a deserved bonus-point 29-27 derby win at Driffield in North One East despite doing their best to hand the home side a share of the spoils.

After 80 minutes, Pock looked in cruise control as they led 29-12. Even when Driffield grabbed a converted try at the start of time added on, they were still set fair for victory with a 22-drop out for the last play of the day.

However, Pock dallied over the kick, were penalised for time wasting and Driffield threw the ball wide and followed up a grubber kick to score.

That gave them a conversion from halfway out to draw, but the kick flapped low and wide.

Pock produced a strong first-half display to score four tries and be 17 points ahead at the break.

Wing Tim Nixon, centre Bill Hardy, prop Mat Webber and flanker Jack Holborough got the touchdowns and fly-half Dan Elliot kicked a penalty and three conversions.

Pock had chances to move out of sight early in the second half, but they failed to finish the home side off and had two players sin-binned in the closing stages.

York RI battled back to claim a 10-10 draw at Halifax in Yorkshire Four.

The visitors dominated the set-pieces and the pressure told for Baptiste Briu to land a penalty.

RI were in total control but, in breaking from their own 25-metre area, RI threw out a suicidal pass and a Fax centre intercepted and scored under the posts.

A conversion and drop goal gave the home side a 10-3 interval lead.

RI dug deep and battered the home line for Yohan Barthelemy to crash over in the corner and Briu held his nerve to kick a superb touchline conversion.
