POCKLINGTON RUFC snatched a dramatic 12-10 North One East victory over Dinnington with a try from the last move of the match.

Pock had a dominant set piece that continually marched Dinnington back at lineouts and scrums, but they were unable to turn that into points.

However, they produced a bit of magic when they most needed it. Teenager James Thompson scampered down the right, then flanker Jack Holborough sucked in the defence before offloading to fly-half Dan Elliot, who sent wing Pete Massie over the line.

Earlier, Dinnington had enjoyed all the ball in the first quarter and went ahead with a close range try from number eight Will Marshall, converted by Jonny West.

Pock then took over to lay siege to the Dinnington line without being able to fashion a score, even when Dinnington had a forward sin-binned for collapsing the scrum.

Pock levelled at 7-7 early in the second half when centre Billy Hardy carved through in midfield and arced to the corner, Elliot converting from wide out.

Sustained forward pressure failed to bring a further score, while Elliot saw two penalties fly wide, before West's penalty put Dinnington back in front with 12 minutes to go.

In the greasy conditions, handling errors thwarted Pocklington's comeback efforts until everything came good with that last play.
