POCKLINGTON RUFC kicked off the North One East campaign with a win, but they had to come from behind to beat Ilkley 29-19.

Pock made a mess of the kick off and handed Ilkley a three point start, but then lock James Wilkinson offloaded out of a tackle for full-back Jack Fletcher to score.

Ilkley kicked two late penalties to lead 9-5 at the interval and, although a lineout drive ended with flanker Joe Holbrough diving over, a converted Ilkley try put the visitors 16-10 ahead with 25 minutes left.

Pock skipper and scrum-half Ben Rees took a quick tap and blasted over, Dan Elliot converting.

Home lock Dan Wilson was sin-binned and Ilkley kicked fourth penalty to regain the lead, but replacement prop Mat Webber scored twice to take his side to victory.

Relegated Malton & Norton were edged out 15-11 at Yorkshire One title favourites Doncaster Phoenix.

Phoenix took the lead with converted try on seven minutes, but Ian Cooke reduced the deficit with a penalty midway through the half.

Cooke added the three points to the tally on 52 minutes, but Doncaster replied with a penalty of their own and then claimed a try in the corner on the hour.

Malton pressure created a try for a rampaging Sean Emms, but they were unable to grab another score.

York started their Yorkshire One season with a bonus point 32-13 win over North Ribblesdale.

Eddie Bradshaw crossed on six minutes, debutant James Rawlinson went over five minutes later and a third try by Jeff Meredith, converted by Josh Britland, gave the hosts a 17-6 half-time lead.

Substitute Rich Roberts bagged the bonus point try and, although Rib reduced the gap to 22-13, Toby Atkin stole the ball and scampered under the posts for a late try.

Two late tries earned Selby a bonus point as they went down 32-30 to Scarborough in Yorkshire One.

The Swans took the lead with a try by centre Peter Turner, converted by full-back Josh Cruise, but they trailed 14-13 at the break despite two Cruise penalties.

Cruise kicked another penalty after the break but Selby were 32-16 behind after 68 minutes before tries from Turner and Dan Porter, both goaled by Cruise, closed the gap.

York RI opened their Yorkshire Four campaign with a 24-13 victory at newcomers Wensleydale.

The first 38 minutes were even at 6-6, after two home penalties and two kicks from RI’s Baptiste Brui.

With half-time looming, new boy Lawrence Walsh charged down a Wensleydale kick to get an unconverted touchdown.

Brui added a further penalty, only for the home side to score a converted try to make it 14-13 at the interval. The home side kept RI at bay until a slick move saw Tim Lewis draw his man to release man of the match Walsh for a converted try. Brui added a late penalty.
