Pocklington power to tenth North One East win

Pocklington RUFC wrapped up their tenth North One East success of the season with a comfortable 27-14 victory at Keighley.

Keighley threw everything at Pocklington in the opening exchanges, but Pock’s defence dealt with the home threat.

Two Nick Bennett penalties got Pock under way, and then centre Jake Bishop broke through and quick ball was recycled for wing Billy Hardy to dive over in the corner.

Pocklington started the second half strongly and, after Jack Holbrough had made a midfield charge, quick hands again saw Hardy cross wide out.

A converted try gave Keighley hope but two more Bennett penalties at the start of the final quarter stretched them clear again.

More good handling brought them a third touchdown for Charlie Allen, before Keighley got a second score.

Malton & Norton picked up a 30-20 bonus point win at Northern in North One East.

Malt’s Ian Cooke opened the scoring with a penalty and, after an unconverted try by the hosts, Cooke added a second successful kick.

A second Northern try saw them regain the lead, but Malton upped the pressure and centre Ryan Lonsdale went close before flanker Sam Triffitt touched down to give the visitors an 11-10 half-time lead.

Winger Kenton Leiataua’s try stretched Malton’s lead and fly-half Chuck Ramsay also crossed for a try, converted by Cooke.

Number eight Gus Ramsay was next to cross the whitewash and Cooke’s goal made it 30-10.

Two late tries earned Northern a bonus point.
