Selby RUFC bounce back to winning form

Selby RUFC moved six points clear at the top of Yorkshire Two with a 38-10 victory over West Park Leeds at Sandhill Lane.

The Swans lost their 100 per cent record the previous weekend and provided the perfect response to notch their eighth win of the campaign.

Playing against the wind in the opening period, the hosts restricted their opponents to one unconverted try by flanker Richard Storey to trail 5-0 at the break.

Selby played scintillating running rugby at the start of the second half and were 10-5 ahead after 47 minutes with tries from skipper Duncan Hardy and hooker Josh Greenfield, who bagged his sixth of the season.

Josh Cruise missed both conversions, but he added the extras to further tries from Hardy and replacement number eight Martin Protheroe.

Cruise then crossed on 75 minutes, converting that and a 79th-minute try by Alex Webster.

West Park scrum-half Will Morecombe touched down in injury time.
