Tyler Craig steals limelight in English Lions U18 victory

Heworth ARLC youngster Tyler Craig scored two tries and three goals as the English Lions Under-18s won their opening tour match 40-0 against Lebanon Espoirs.

Craig, who made a shock debut for York City Knights at Keighley Cougars earlier this month, was a substitute in the historic match at the University of Beirut – which, due to the heat, was played over four-quarters – but he ended as their top points-scorer.

Head coach Kelvin Lockett was impressed with his side’s performance as they overcame soaring temperatures and the loss of two players to a stomach bug.

The Lions will meet the Espoirs again on Thursday to conclude a tour which has seen them become the first representative side from a major team sport to visit Lebanon.
