A CROSS-CODE challenge will take place tonight as rugby league amateurs York Lokomotive go to Northern Counties East League football club Tadcaster Albion's 2Inspire Park.

There will be a 45-minute first half of football followed by 40 minutes of tag rugby league between the sides.

Said Albion boss Paul Marshall said: “We are taking this challenge extremely seriously. We will be looking to build some confidence ahead of the remaining league fixtures.

“I’m sure the rugby boys will be taking this as competitively as we are.”

Lokos’ season kicks off this month. Secretary Steve Bamford said: “It’s an unusual concept and the Lokos players are looking forward to taking on Albion at both sports.”

The match kicks of at 7.15pm. Admission is free to all.
