SELBY Warriors ARLC gave their best performance for some time to win 46-10 at Upton in Pennine League division two east.

Upton is traditionally a tough place to visit but Selby - now with Mark Hanson, Andy Rowe and Gary Watkinson taking over the coaching reins - took it in their stride.

The returning Paul Greensmith, Scott Pearson and Watkinson pulled the strings, with the hosts unable to contend with crisp Warriors passing and offloads from forwards Hanson, the returning Martin Jackson and the superb Damion Evans.

The win - Selby's third in six league outings - was all the more remarkable considering they lost big prop Darryl Taylor in the warm-up while several players were involved in the York & District ARL's East v West representative game.

Veteran Rowe scored Selby's first try, diving over in the corner, and Selby never looked back.

The Robinson brothers Kelvin and Harvey were superb with the former scoring two tries, one a full-length effort despite a heavily strapped knee.

Paul Greenwood, a thorn in the home side all game, also scored off an outrageous dummy.

Prop Jackson had a blockbusting game and scored two tries, taking several defenders over the line with him.

Full-back Danny England caused plenty of panic in the home defence and notched two long-range tries, while veteran player-coach Hanson barged over late on.

Young hooker Jack Greensmith, back to his best after a difficult few weeks, made some telling runs from acting-half and scored a 30-yard effort, while dad Paul Greensmith rolled back the years at half-back.

Ryan Brind was excellent at prop while young Max Spowage did not let anyone down in his open-age debut.
