PLAYER-BOSS Jack Stearman says New Earswick All Blacks ARLC have "got to be confident" as they target the third leg of a possible quadruple this year.

All Blacks take on Norland Sharks in the Yorkshire Men's League division one play-off final at Featherstone Lions on Saturday (3pm).

They have already lifted the league's Forty-20 Cup and finished top of division one, and are also in the York & District Cup final - all in their first season of summer rugby having switched from the winter Pennine League last year.

"We've got to be confident," said former York City Knights prop Stearman. "We've only lost two games in the league all season and we've put 40 points on teams in the last three games."

Last week's 44-26 derby semi-final win over York Acorn 'A' was also impressive.

Stearman added of the first half: "It was the best 40 we've played all season.

"It was disappointing to concede 20 points in the second half but I think it was partly down to the comfortable position we were in, and fair play to Acorn - they came back at us and deserved those points."

Norland, who finished second in the table, are one of the two teams to have beaten All Blacks in the league this year.

But Stearman said: "We lost at their place by seven points and beat them at home by 22. It will be nice to get the result we deserve for our efforts throughout the season.

"To win two competitions already is pretty good and hopefully good for rugby league in York. If we can get a third, even better.

"We know we can do it if we stick to our game-plan but it's a cup final and anything can happen. Either way the lads need to be proud of where the team is today."

Stearman is likely to field a similar side to that which beat Acorn 'A' last week, although prop Olly Cook fractured a collarbone and is ruled out. Bobby Smith is available again, though, as a like-for-like replacement.

The club are putting on a bus, leaving All Blacks' clubhouse at 12.15pm, Knavesmire at 12.30pm and Acomb Green at 12.45pm. The cost is £10 a seat.

Promotion-chasing York Acorn have a week off in the National Conference League first division.

Selby Warriors lost their Pennine League division two east opener at Dearne Valley Bulldogs 38-18 last week. They host Moorends Thorne this Saturday (2.30pm).
