YORK Acorn have appealed against Matthew Woods’ dismissal in last weekend’s victory at Shaw Cross Sharks.

Woods was sent off for allegedly striking Sharks’ player Sam Ottewell in the head with his knee.

Coach Leigh Paul-Rientoul, however, says officials from both sides have studied video footage and agree that the incident was unintentional.

Woods is eligible to play in this weekend’s National Conference League division one clash with Featherstone Lions but the RFL are set to rule on his challenge next week.

Acorn, who have now won four consecutive league games, are without Karl Harton, Matt Chilton, and Brandon Harris for Saturday’s game as the trio are involved in the York and District ARL trip to the Ukraine.

Paul-Rientoul is also also away on the trip.

Featherstone are bottom of the table but picked up their first victory of the season last weekend against Hull Dockers.

“We are missing a couple of players but we are very happy with our recent results and I would like to think we can continue our good run, especially at home,” said Paul-Rientoul.
