YORK Acorn 'A' suffered a second consecutive defeat in the Forty20 Cup losing 56-16 at home to Batley Boys.

Most of the first half was a keenly fought affair with Acorn more than holding their own.

Crucial for Acorn was the form of prop forward Adam Endersby who never took a backwards step all the game. Powerful winger Luke Swales also proved difficult to stop and stand off Thomas Mackley was lively throughout.

After falling behind to an early unconverted try, Acorn hit back in the 10th minute when loose forward Harry Bromwich capitalized on good approach play to score an unconverted try out wide, levelling the scores at 4-4.

Acorn moved into a 10-4 lead when good defending saw them create a ball spill due to numbers in the tackle and full back Joel Johnson was on hand to pick up the loose ball and score a try converted by Dan Lazenby.

But, after that, Acorn found Batley simply too good especially full back/centre Geoffrey Price who was a constant thorn in the side all afternoon.

Acorn's only other points came from a Thomas Mackley try and a Lazenby conversion.
