HEWORTH ARLFC suffered another heavy defeat in the Yorkshire Men's League Forty20 Cup losing 46-18 against Premier Division side Bentley at Elmpark Way.

It was an uphill struggle for the Villagers, who, for the second consecutive week, failed to register a single point in the first half and were 20-0 down at the interval.

However, a dogged and determined effort brought them four tries in the second period although the visitors remained dominant and were full value for their victory.

Bentley took the lead after five minutes with a try from prop Jordan Middleton converted by stand off Jack Craswell.

Heworth's defence looked vulnerable and Bentley went on to add three more tries courtesy of second rower Tom Flounders and substitute Gaz Burns (2), one of which was goaled by Craswell.

It looked like a rout was on the cards at the start of the second half as the visitors registered further touchdowns through Paul Ward, Middleton and Burns. Jack Craswell converted two and Ryan Cresswell bagged the third increasing Bentley's lead to 38-0.

Heworth kept pegging away and finally got on the scoreboard after 57 minutes with centre Fraser West following up a kick from player-coach George Elliott to touch down for an unconverted score.

Four minutes later, West was over again in similar fashion and loose forward Joe Deighton added the extras to make it 38-10.

Bentley responded through second rower Paul Purnell on 65 minutes before Deighton forced his way over from close range.

The visitors added a final effort when substitute Lyndon Stanley went over four minutes from time.

Heworth had the final word, however, with Deighton crossing in the final minute. Final score: 46-18.

Deighton was voted Man of the Match for Heworth with West and Elliott also catching the eye.
