THERE will be a number of all-York derbies in the Yorkshire Men's League this season after New Earswick All Blacks ARLC were confirmed in division one of the competition, alongside Heworth and York Acorn 'A'.

All Blacks were accepted in the league after switching to summer rugby from the winter Pennine League, being placed in the second tier alongside Heworth.

Acorn's reserves also drop to that level after relegation from the premier division last year.

York Lokomotive have been placed in division four of the new-look league having struggled in division two last year with three wins from 14 league games.

The 2017 YML structure was confirmed this week, with a record 76 teams across nine divisions - 18 more than last year, including New Earswick.

The All Blacks have also re-launched an 'A' team, having had only the sole senior side in recent years. They will play alongside Heworth 'A' in the YML's new entry division, as will Sherburn Bears, a current Pennine League club who are delving into summer rugby.

In total there will be eight structured divisions in this year's YML, including two alliance divisions, plus the entry league for newly formed teams to enter at any time.

Among the new inclusions in the competition are 2015 Conference League South champions Nottingham Outlaws, who are placed in the premier division.

Additionally, a record 24 teams have also entered the pre-season Forty20 Cup, a competition won for the second time last term by Acorn 'A', who have reached the final in each of the four years it has been held.

Full fixtures are to be announced in the coming weeks, with the season set to kick off in April.
