YORK Acorn were drawn away to the Royal Air Force in tonight’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup first round draw.

The National Conference League division one side will play their tie on the weekend of January 28-29.

Acorn reached the third round last season when they were beaten 66-0 by neighbours York City Knights, who will be entered later in the competition.

Hull coach Lee Radford made the draw at The Deep as part of the celebrations surrounding the city’s status as 2017 UK City of Culture.

His side will enter the competition, along with the other top seven clubs in Super League in 2016, in round six on the weekend of May 13, while 32 amateur, services and university teams will get the tournament under way on the last weekend of January.

Radford, who was coach of amateurs East Hull when they beat semi-professional club Swinton 26-12 away from home in 2004, conducted the first-round draw with Rugby Football League president, Air Commodore Dean Andrew.
