UNDER-strength Heworth, playing for the third time in seven days, succumbed to a 32-12 defeat at the hands of second placed Queensbury in Yorkshire Mens League division one.
The Villagers trailed 18-6 at the break and put in a creditable defensive effort but lacked the intensity to get on top of a strong and determined Bradford outfit.
The hosts raced into an early 10-0 lead with tries by loose forward Jonjo Naylor and centre Callum Murgatroyd, one of which was goaled by scrum half Jonny Norman.
Heworth hit back on 20 minutes with hooker Dave Hayes putting centre Lewis Hartley through a gap to touch down and loose forward Joe Deighton adding the conversion.
Queensbury went further ahead, seven minutes before the break, with a try from centre Arran Moore improved by Norman who also tagged on a penalty goal right on the stroke of half time for an 18-6 lead.
The home side increased their advantage two minutes into the second period with an unconverted score by second rower Ash Ryan but Heworth gave themselves a glimmer of hope, four minutes later, when player-coach George Elliott forced his way over from close range and Deighton added the extras to make it 22-12.
Queensbury went on to add two more touchdowns from Moore and Norman, who also goaled his own effort to put the result beyond doubt.
For the second time in three days, Deighton took the Villagers' man of the match award with winger Callum Worthington and Hayes also catching the eye.
In Division Two, next-to-bottom York Lokomotive suffered a 70-18 mauling away at third placed Keighley Albion.
