NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC were in fine form as they reached the final of the York & District Cup with a comprehensive victory over York Lokomotive on Knavesmire.

Tom Holmes goaled all nine All Blacks tries as the Pennine League club saw off their Yorkshire Men's League neighbours 54-10.

Dean Smith opened the scoring, diving over in the left corner, and he got a second after 25 minutes in as he cut inside and found away to the sticks.

Five minutes later, stand-off Tom Barron attacked the line and found his way between two defenders to then reach out over the whitewash.

More points came down the right-hand side just before the interval as Sean Malarkey found acres of space between defenders to stroll over.

New Earswick started the second half at the same pace as they had finished the first and, four minutes in, the excellent Tommy Hields weaved through the confused defence to place the ball to the left of the sticks.

Soon, man-of-the-match Liam Gargan latched onto a stray Lokos pass to intercept on his own 20-metre line and go the full length to make it 36-00.

Lokos hit back, scoring twice in ten minutes as New Earswick lost a bit of concentration.

But, with an hour gone, prop Bobby Smith found his way over the line to restart All Blacks' scoring.

Then Jack Sinclair, after running hard all day, hit a good angled line to burst past the defence and over the line for his fourth try of the season.

Jack Hodgson had the last say of the match, running from dummy-half after a quick play-the-ball to theatrically dive over the line.

Heworth fell 30-12 at Knottingley Worms in Yorkshire Men's League division one - losing the game in the first half.

The Villagers struggled to get into their stride against a speedy and well-drilled Knottingley outfit, and at 26-0 down it was clear greater determination would be required to avoid a potential 50-plus hammering.

However, they were able to put in a strong effort in the second period, scoring twice and only allowing Knottingley one unconverted try close to the final whistle.

Player-coach George Elliott got Heworth on the board when he powered over under the posts, Joe Deighton's conversion reducing the deficit..

Then Ross Varley intercepted a loose Knottingley pass and Mike Welsh was on hand to score in the corner, Deighton again converting.

At 26-12 down, Heworth were back in the game and they had at least three more chances to add to their tally before Knottingley crossed late on to seal victory.

Prop Wayne Foster was Heworth's best player, closely followed by Sam Johnson and Paul Thompson.

York Acorn 'A' were also defeated, falling 26-14 at Siddal Academy in the premier division.

Meanwhile, Sherburn Bears capped their title-winning campaign in Pennine League division four east with a 76-6 hammering of Beeston Broncos - completing their season with 17 wins from 18 league outings.
