ACORN A recovered from a poor start to their Forty-20 Cup clash with Norland Sharks to run out comfortable 34-4 winners.

The hosts may be hunting their fourth straight final in the competition, but it was the Sharks who opened the scoring in the tenth minute with Ben Jarratt diving over. Nick Arnell clattered the post with the conversion attempt, however.

This sparked the Acorn boys into life, and they took the initiative thanks to a flurry of tries from Andy Gargan, Eddie Clapham and Lewis Lord to storm into a 14-4 half-time lead.

Norland started the second half well, going close on a couple of occasions, but a well-drilled home defence kept them at bay.

And tries for John Tattersfield, Matthew Embleton, Tom Hill and Ryan Gallagher sealed the Acorn victory.

l SHERBURN Bears had a quiet weekend in the Pennine League, with division four east opponents Swillington failing to field a side, giving the Bears a 30-0 walkover victory.
