YORK Lokomotive ARLC are advertising for a new head coach and assistants.

Simon Moat, who has held the coaching role for the last three years, is going to concentrate on his other major position as club chairman, also focusing on the expansion of the junior and masters sections.

Ex-York Wasps player Mick Hagan and former Jamaica and Gateshead Thunder head coach and an assistant at Sheffield Eagles, Dean Thomas, are currently taking some pre-season training sessions for the Yorkshire Men's League outfit, but they cannot commit to the head coach position or the full summer season.

A Lokos statement said: "The Lokos open-age team are in the search for new and energetic coaching to join the family.

"Looking into the near future, the open-age team are in very exciting times after a couple of very positive seasons.

"They would now like to develop on the strong foundations already laid with a new head coach and one or two assistant coaches."

Any head coach would need a Level 2 coaching qualification, "up-to-date game knowledge, great people skills and inclusive attitude to players".

Anyone interested is asked to phone Moat on 07828 816986 or email yorklokos@hotmail.com.

Meanwhile, players old and new are welcome to attend training sessions which take place indoors at Poppleton Road Memorial Hall on Wednesdays at 7pm, and outdoors on Knavesmire at 10.30am on Sundays, meeting at the Bustardthorpe changing rooms. The Wednesday sessions will move outdoors when evenings get lighter.

Off the pitch, Martin Bellwood is joining the Lokos' club committee.

Dean Winspear, after successfully applying for a development role with New Zealand Rugby Union, is emigrating down under.

Tickets are selling well for the Lokos' sportsman's dinner planned for Sunday, April 10.

Former Super League, NRL and Great Britain superstar Adrian Morley will be the guest speaker and there will also be a comedian, along with a three-course meal, auction and raffle.

Tickets cost £30 and are available from Moat on 07828 816986, Matt Chapman on 07415 341428.
