NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC return to action tomorrow after a month away - and it could hardly be a more difficult outing.

Player-boss Jack Stearman's charges won their last match but remain near the foot of the Pennine League championship after a difficult first few months of the season - including a points deduction for failing to fulfil a fixture.

Having not played since the end of November 28 due to postponements, cup weekends and the extended Christmas break, they will be tested on their return away to buoyant leaders Mirfield Stags, who, after promotion last year, have won all their six league outings so far.

Mirfield's main pitch has been waterlogged after recent rain but a second pitch has been apparently deemed playable so the game (2pm) is set to go ahead.

All Blacks secretary Paul Pallister, however, hoped the clash would also prove tough for the hosts.

"They haven't played since early December either so both teams are in the same boat in that regard," he said on the question of rustiness, not helped by the fact All Blacks' training has also been hindered by a waterlogged White Rose Avenue.

"According to Jack, we've got a good squad to choose from and we know we have the ability to beat anyone in this league.

"It's the first time we've met Mirfield so it's going into the unknown but they came up as division one champions and have carried on that form this year so it will be tough.

"But we think it will be tough for both teams."

Promotion challengers Selby Warriors host struggling West Craven in division two hoping the month's break will have recharged batteries after their hammering by CK Vikings last time out.

In division four east, Sherburn Bears will resume looking to extend their 100 per cent record at home to Leeds Underdogs.
