YORK Acorn ARLC celebrated their memorable play-off final win and promotion back to the National Conference League premier division with a glitzy end-of-season presentation evening at the Park Inn hotel.

There was a bumper turnout, with the guest presenter being former New Zealand and Bradford legend and current media pundit Robbie Hunter Paul.

The award winners are listed.

1st team: Players' Player of the Year Lewis Lord; Man of Steel Tim Stubbs; Coaches' Player of the Year Joe Porter; Young Player of the Year Harry Bromwich.

2nd team: Players' Player of the Year James Bromwich; Man of Steel James Bromwich; Coaches' Player of the Year Michael Embleton; Young Player of the Year Jake Calam.

Club chairman Michael Lumby also awarded the coverted Clubman of the Year award to one of Acorn's "most loyal unpaid heroes", Mick King.

Meanwhile, New Earswick All Blacks look to kick on from their vital win last weekend as they host West Leeds Eagles in the Pennine League championship on Saturday (2pm).

Second-placed Selby Warriors go to CK Vikings in division two. Unbeaten Sherburn Bears have no game in division four east.

l A GREAT defensive performance saw York Ladies beat Lindley Swifts, of Huddersfield, 46-0 in Women's Rugby League Association division one.

With solid defence across the line, York shut out a gutsy Lindley side as fantastic displays from Mary Tiplady and Katie Langan gave them the platform for victory.

Their attacking cohesion was not up to its usual high standard but some great individual plays by Meg Summers and Katie Hepworth saw the hosts build a decent scoreline.

Sam Boyes got four of the tries with Summers (2), Paige Stevens, Becki Brierley, Ash Hyde and Carly Hilton also on the mark, Hepworth kicking three goals.
