NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC are optimistic last week's call-off was a one-off as they look to get their Pennine League championship season back on track.

All Blacks had to forfeit their game at Batley Boys due a lack of available numbers but, after a shake-up talk this week, they will be getting a full complement out for the trip to King Cross Park tomorrow (2pm).

Numbers were down due to work commitments and commitments, a few injuries and a few lads being away at university.

Chairman Paul Pallister explained: "We're a bit lower on numbers in the squad this year. Some of the guys work in construction and we find that if they've had a wet week and can't work, they have to make their hours up on a Saturday - we have to accept that.

"Then there are family commitments and we had a few lads out - new signing Matt Cannon dislocated a shoulder and broke a thumb, while Adam Kirkby was injured.

"It all seemed to come along at once and it was the first time we had to forfeit a game, which is very disappointing.

"We had a chat this week and a bit of a shake-up - a bit of a 'stand up and be counted' thing - and we had a full house down. Hopefully we'll be okay."

He added: "This year we want to be going for silverware and I think we can win this league if we can keep the team playing.

"Last week's was a game we could have won but we lose those points and get two deducted, so we'll have to make up for it."

Selby Warriors host CK Vikings in division two, while Sherburn Bears entertain Beeston Broncos in the Supplementary Cup second round.
