YORK Acorn ARLC 'A' face a second successive tough test in Yorkshire Men's League division one as they bid to bounce back from their 26-20 defeat in their top-of-the-table clash at Mirfield Stags.

That game - which included a star turn from Bradford and New Zealand legend Robbie Hunter-Paul - saw Acorn drop to second, and on Saturday they host Milford 'A'.

The 39-year-old Hunter-Paul jinked over early on in the clash, full-back Ross Hayden goaling, but Joel Johnson replied following a superb Jamie Stewart off-load.

After Acorn dropped the ball, Hayden crossed in the corner and converted.

Acorn stuck to their guns and Luke Swales did well to crash over, Jake Calam goaling from out wide.

Karl Harton then ran a superb line to go over and Calam's goal gave the visitors a four-point lead.

Mirfield centre Elliott Smith crossed two minutes before the break, Hayden converting.

The second half was tight. Acorn struck first as winger Jamie Stewart caught a superb Calam cross-field kick but Mirfield retook the lead when Wayne Jowett bulldozed in, with Hayden kicking the conversion and a penalty eight minutes from time to seal it.
