YORK Lokos ARLC picked up their first win of the Yorkshire Men’s League division three term after beating hosts Bradford Victoria Rangers 46-22.

The Lokos started brightly and were soon ahead after stand-off Tom Dunmore exploited a gap in the home defence to cross with ease, Dunmore converting.

Rangers hit back with two tries, one converted, before powerhouse Lokos forward Mark Musgrave stormed through to score a solo try.

After a defensive lapse, Rangers again crossed the whitewash for a converted try.

With half-time approaching, Lokos captain Liam Watling finished off a fine move and the conversion made the score 16-16 at the break.

The second period saw the hosts again hit the front with a converted try, but this setback forced the Lokos to up their game.

Centre Dave Jefferson and prop Chris Corr, with a quick-fire double, scored tries to put the visitors ahead.

With 15 minutes remaining, the Lokos hit top gear with further tries from Watling, flying winger Adam Morgan and hooker Ricky James, the latter fending off a persistent defender for 40 metres. Dunmore converted all three.

Man of the match for the Lokos was Watling, with Musgrave also putting in a fine performance.

Unbeaten York Acorn ‘A’ head division one after a 34-20 win at Oulton Raiders ‘A’, their fourth success in five outings.
