NEW Earswick All Blacks picked up their first victory of 2015 as they whitewashed Brotherton 30-0 to move up to second in Pennine League Championship One.

It took 25 minutes for the White Rose Avenue hosts to break the deadlock as Karl Southrington ran from deep to score, and then six minutes later Tom Barron powered his way over and Tom Holmes converted.

Just before the break, Holmes kicked a penalty to give the All Blacks a 12-0 lead.

Then Liam Gargan put up a high bomb, collected by Dean Smith for a try, which Holmes converted.

A solid set of six saw the All Blacks take the ball from their half for Nic Caldwell to touch down, with Holmes converting.

Two minutes later, good handling put Ben Pulleyn over under the posts and Gargan goaled.

The New Earswick man of the match was Dan Atkinson, backed up by Caldwell and Carl Smith.

Missing several key players, Sherburn Bears laboured to a 28-20 division four win over lowly visitors Dewsbury Celtic.

Sherburn ran away with the first half 22-8 but struggled to contain Celtic after the break.

Bears’ try scorers were Adam Wright, James Raywood, Johnboy Fenwick, Bryn Watson and Ben Pugh. Connor Jordan added four conversions.

The Elmet Driver Training man of the match was Jack Charlesworth, the young front rower again excelling with a flurry of tackles and carries.

He pipped Fenwick with third place going to Raywood, with another eye-catching show at hooker.

The supporters’ man of the match was centre Jordan Richards, while Crossland and Jordan shared the top tackler award.

Selby Warriors’ trip to West Bowling ‘A’ was postponed.
