NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC crashed 24-14 at Morley Borough in the Pennine League Championship.

The White Rose Avenue side took the lead after 13 minutes when Liam Gargan sent Jordan Potter through to score in the corner. Gargan converted.

The visitors extended their advantage when good pressure set up Potter for his second try and Gargan added the extras to give the All Blacks a 12-0 half-time lead.

Morley hit back with two converted tries to level the scores, but All Blacks responded with a Gargan penalty.

The hosts took the lead with a converted try and sealed their victory with another converted score in the last minute.

The All Blacks man of the match was Adam Caddie, who was backed up by Potter and Jack Stearman.

Promotion-chasing Sherburn Bears suffered their first defeat of the division four campaign, losing 16-6 at leaders Crofton Cougars.

Sherburn had leapfrogged the Cougars to the top of the table the previous weekend, but Crofton returned to the summit with their fifth win of the season.

The game started at a frenetic pace, and quickly turned into a war of attrition in the middle of the park.

Crofton made a good start with two scores in the first 20 minutes to take a 10-0 lead, but the Bears answered through hooker Shaun Crossland.

A mistake from the restart allowed Crofton the chance to post a third score and restore their ten-point lead at 16-6.

The second half remained scoreless, with both teams’ excellent defences cancelling each other out.

The Elmet Driver Training man of the match was Shaun Crossland, who was unlucky not to cross the try line a second time.

Second place went to tough centre Johnboy Fenwick, who topped the tackle count and was a constant threat with the ball in hand with his blockbusting running style.

Captain Ray Boyes was third after constantly putting his body on the line for the team.

The supporters' man of the match was second row forward Kevin Dalton, who had another excellent match in attack and defence.

There was no game for Selby Warriors in division four.
