NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC were handed an away draw in round two of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup after beating Hull Wyke 22-16.

The White Rose Avenue win means the York side will travel to either Morley Borough or Drighlington in round two on Saturday, October 18.

All Blacks took the lead in the first round tie when winger Dean Smith crashed over in the corner.

Hull responded with a unconverted try, but the All Blacks regained the lead as centre Adam Kirby finished after quick hands gave him space. Stand-off Tom Holmes converted.

Prop Jack Stearman, the home side's player coach, powered over for a try converted by Tom Holmes to give the All Blacks a 16-4 half-time lead.

Hull Wyke narrowed the gap with a converted try, but a penalty by Holmes kept distance between the sides.

The visitors closed to within two points, but the All Blacks sealed victory when centre Jack Sinclair collected a Liam Gargan bomb to score.

The New Earswick man of the match was hooker Jack Carling, who was backed up well by Stearman and second rower Reece Blake.

Sherburn Bears were 20-12 home winners over Emley Moor in their opening game of the Pennine League division four campaign.
