YORK Acorn ARLFC shrugged off an early setback at home to Eccles to rattle up a 62-6 National Conference division one conquest.

After a poor run of form, it was perhaps no surprise that the visitors went ahead with a try from prop Adam Walker, converted by Jordan Parker after just six minutes.

Eccles had most of the play up until the 12th minute and from then it was effectively one-way traffic.

A high ball was knocked on by Eccles, giving Acorn possession only ten metres out.

Moving the ball wide, winger Josh Thompson stretched out to score and with Anthony Chilton converting from the touch line, the scores were level.

It was the first of an 11-try blitz from the hosts.

Joe Porter was next to touch down followed by Ryan Gallacher, Chilton converting again from out wide.

On the half-hour Gallacher won a foot race to score, but Chilton’s kick hit an upright.

Acorn were completely dominant with Joe Budd instrumental in all that was good. A clever pass put Matthew Woods in, converted by Chilton.

Acorn began the second period as they finished the first, and senior team debutant Jamie Stewart slipped a lovely pass to Gallacher giving him his third try.

A great delayed pass found Woods who made it the rest of the way to the try line. Chilton converted.

On 60 minutes Daryl North burst a tackle with a great off-load to the supporting Budd to score. Chilton converted.

Thee minutes later it was Leigh Rientoul’s turn to break the tackles and managed to get the ball away to Josh Thompson, then to Budd for his hat trick goaled by Chilton.

Two kicks from Jordan Myres led to Joel Johnson touching down. Chilton again obliged.

With five minutes to go, a barging run and strong drive from Gareth Singleton saw him off-load to Chilton, who crossed and converted his own try.

There was enough time for Gallacher to get his fourth try, Martin McTigue successfully converting.

A huge performance from Adam Endersby, playing at loose forward, earned him the man of the match accolade.
