A YOUNG Selby Warriors side beat Harehills 26-6 in their build-up to the Pennine League season.
Harehills took the lead but the Warriors forwards then got on top and youngsters Lewis Helstrip, son of ex-player and coach Paul, making his open-age bow, Sam Stevenson and Chaz Fothergill started to come into their own.
The introduction of veterans Mark Hanson, Dave Sowden and Ben Pearson then altered the dynamics, with Pearson (2), captain Wayne Fennell and winger David Makin (2) scoring tries.
Rob Howard and the returning Connor Smith also impressed.
