Top grades for Team Jorvik swimming crew
7:20am Saturday 5th May 2012 in Junior sports
A squad of 13 swimmers from Team Jorvik took part in Doncaster DARTES Minster Sprint Gala at Beverley Leisure Centre.
With a total of 55 swims between them, the 13 youngsters came away with 37 personal best times, 13 speeding tickets and 12 medals.
Joseph Senior, Emily Hill, Catriona Scott and Esme Littlewood all collected a full set of PBs.
Senior took a speeding ticket, two first place medals and a sixth and seventh position. Hill followed with a speeding ticket, a second place and a third, and Littlewood gained a speeding ticket, a first place and a fifth.
Elsewhere, Antonia Bunyan claimed two speeding tickets and three PBs; Ellie Summers took two speeding tickets and two PBs; Melissa Hill had one speeding ticket, one second place and a PB; Jessica Buckton won one speeding ticket and two PBs; and Rachel Dunmore, Issy Scott and Sarah Graves gained a first place in the 50-metre backstroke, a second in the 50m butterfly and a third in the 50m breaststroke respectively.
Newcomers to the gala scene Phoebe Holmes and Natasha Durie put in excellent performances. Holmes gained two PBs plus a second place in the 50m breaststroke, while Durie gained three speeding tickets from four PBs.
Team Jorvik disability swimmer, Chloe Buck, meanwhile, competed at the International Disability Meet where she achieved placings in three finals.
It was a fantastic achievement, especially considering there were many 2012 Paralympic Games swimmers competing in her events.
Brother and sister duo Alistair and Eleanor Cooper, also from Team Jorvik, competed at the 25th Satellites of Macclesfield Open Gala, in which 52 clubs from around the United Kingdom took part.
Eleanor gained herself four personal bests in the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle and the 200m individual medley.
Alistair gained eight PBs from his nine swims. His performances in the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley also gave him the qualifying times for the North Eastern Championships, which will be held in June at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
