Fulford School Under-16s basketball team, who won the North Yorkshire Basketball Championships
YORK champions Fulford School were runners-up in the North of England Under-16 Schools’ Basketball finals.
The teenagers topped the tree in the York area and then, representing the city in the North Yorkshire finals, they beat Malton School (East Riding) 38-13 and St Aidans (Harrogate) 26-18 at York College. That success saw the team qualify for the North of England finals at Bradford College.
Fulford beat the West Yorkshire champions 35-16 and the Humberside champions 37-14 to set up a final with Danum College, from Doncaster, who were representing the South Yorkshire region. Fulford lost 34-18 to a strong Danum side to finish runners-up.
James Shutt, Fulford’s head of PE, said: “This has proved to be a very good season for the team and continue a long line of basketball success for the school.”
